Shane McGuirk has continued his stunning run at the WDF World Championships at Lakeside with another straight sets victory to put him into the quarter finals.
The Arrow showed his class once again as he breezed past Australia's Brandon Weening with a comfortable 3-0 win.
Monaghan man McGuirk averaged 94 and hit four 180s as he took out the fourth seed Weening with the minimum of fuss.
It was maximum at a crucial moment in the final leg of the match that gave McGuirk the chance to finish it off on double 4, just as Weening was hoping to extend it into a fourth set.
McGuirk has now won three matches on the Lakeside stage, and is yet to drop a set.
He had Weening on the back foot right from the very start as he won the first five legs of the match, and finished off the second set with a superb 11 darter.
Weening, to his credit, came back after the break to win the first leg of the third set in just 10 darts, but McGuirk wasn't to be denied as he held his nerve to win that final set 3-2.
He now advances to his the last eight, and will be back on the Lakeside stage on Friday, where on this form he will fancy his chances of going even further into the tournament.
