SHANE McGuirk has stormed into the semi finals of the WDF World Championships at Lakeside, and is still yet to lose a set.
The fifth seed Peter Machin was the latest player to be whitewashed by the Monaghan man, who has been installed as the favourite to win the tournament.
McGuirk rattled in five 180s and the game's highest checkout of 108 as he kept up his impressive form that has caught the eye all week.
He had the Australian Machin under pressure right from the start as he broke him in the very first leg of the match and went on to win the opening set comfortably.
The Arrow continued to score well in the second set and picked off his chances when they came to double his advantage before the break.
The third set was a closer affair with Machin putting pressure on McGuirk to bring it to a last leg.
However Shane kept his nerve to win the deciding leg in that set in just 14 darts to move just one set away from the semi finals.
He moved even closer when he took the first two legs of the next set before Machin kept himself alive by taking the next two in just 31 darts.
McGuirk was not to be denied, however, as he began the decisive leg with a maximum and won it with another 14 darter to advance to the last four.
He will be back on the Lakeside stage tomorrow to take on Francois Schweyen of Belgium for a place in the final on Sunday.
