TIPPERARY'S Aidan O'Hara has made a brilliant start to his PDC Development Tour campaign by making it as far as the semi-finals in the first event of 2025.
O'Hara showed superb composure and consistency to win an impressive seven games on the spin to make it to the last four out of up to 500 players.
He began his day with a whitewash win over Holland's Seb van Doorn, and then followed that up with another 4-0 win over another Dutchman, Auke Woord.
The top Irish Youths international then had to show his resilience to win the final two legs for a 4-3 win over England's Harvey Wilkinson, averaging 85.46 as he did so.
That put O'Hara into a last 64 clash against Czech player, Ondrej Frystacky, in which he again averaged way over 80 in a 4-1 win.
He recorded the same scoreline to get past Holland's Stef Kosters, before overcoming another Dutch opponent, Wessel Tempelaars, in the last 16.
O'Hara wasn't finished yet as he then took out another Ducthman, Bradly Roes, in the quarter finals to set up a last four clash with England's Owen Bates.
He fell to a 5-1 defeat in that game, but will have been more than happy with his exploits.
Elsewhere, Galway's Dylan Dowling, who had a very good run on the PDC Development Tour last year, also began strongly by making it to the last 16 before losing out to PDC Tour Card holder Cam Crabtree.
