Triple success even more sweet for Rebecca

CARLOW darts star Rebecca Allen has already won so much in the game it must  be difficult for her to keep up with it all.

The 15-year-old was part of the Carlow team that won it's third INDO Youth Inter Counties title in a row on Sunday, while she herself has also won the last three Girls Inter Counties crowns.

Far from taking it for granted, however, Rebecca tells Darts In Ireland that such success the third time around is even more sweet than the first time.

She said: "It's definitely more special to keep winning it as it's your name on the trophy again."

Rebecca's success in the singles this year came after she stormed through a tough group without losing a game.

She then accounted for Aoife West of Monaghan in the quarter finals, before holding her nerve in the semi-finals to win a last leg decider over Cork's Brooke Warren.

Rebecca saved her best for last as she averaged an impressive 76 to win the final over Ruby Grace of Kilkenny 4-0.

She said the experience of winning in previous years helped get her over the line again.

"I think it gets easier as you kind of have that confidence coming in knowing that you can win;  that you have already done it so why can't you do it again.

"I can see that the other players are trying that little bit harder to beat me. I don't know if they feel any extra pressure but I'm just glad to have won again."

The winning for Rebecca continued in the team event, as Carlow topped their group on Saturday without losing a game.

They kept that form going in the knockout stages, beating Limerick 3-1 in the last 16, before overcoming Kerry in the quarters finals by the same scoreline.

That set up a blockbuster semi-final with Donegal - one of the other favourites for the tournament - with Carlow coming out on top with a 3-2 victory.

In the final against a tough Westmeath team, Rebecca showed just how much class she has as she rattled in no less than three 180s, while averaging 84 in an impressive 3-0 win over a shell-shocked Conal Farrell.

She said: "Carlow darts is in a really good place at the moment and we have a lot of new young players coming through now too.

"These wins give us a great boost and will hopefully see more players coming up through the ranks."
