IT was a night of doubles trouble for Keane Barry as he crashed out of the PDC World Darts championships in the second round.
The Meath man fell to a 3-0 defeat to tenth seed Gerwyn Price as he missed a series of doubles that handed the game on a plate to his Welsh opponent.
Barry came into the game on a high following an excellent first round win over Kim Huybrechts in which he hit 50% of his doubles.
However he was unable to emulate that on the Ally Pally stage tonight as he hit just two of his 23 attempts at doubles.
Former world champion Price took full advantage as he raced into a two set lead in no time.
Barry attempted to halt his flow with a stunning 144 checkout - the highest of the match - in the second leg of the third set.
He was unable to capitalise on that, though, as Price held his throw in the next leg to move just one away from the match.
The Iceman then outscored Barry in the next leg and finished off the match on his favoured double tops.
Speaking afterwards, a relieved Price said he had wanted to win that match more any other in his career.
Price said: "Keane missed a lot of doubles and didn't play as well as he could but for me a win is a win and I move on to the next stage of the tournament after Christmas."
