MAYO darts star Ultan McDyer has stormed through to the final stages of PDC Q school following a stunning final day of qualifying action from him.
The Castlebar man was in need of a major run on the final day to have any chance of making it through and he didn't disappoint as he took one of the eight automatic qualifying spots by winning all of his games.
He has been joined in the final stages by fellow Mayo man, Conor Heneghan, while Galway's Dylan Dowling and Donegal's Dean Gallagher have also secured their spots.
It means there will be eight Irish players gunning for a coveted PDC Tour card over the remaining four days, with Monaghan's Shane McGuirk, Cork's John O'Shea, Limerick's Michael Flynn and Waterford's Dean Finn having also qualified this week.
It was all about McDyer today, though, as he made it through to the final eight, by winning his crucial last 16 clash over England's Thomas Lovely.
Galway man Dylan Dowling also did enough to make it through as he made it to the last 64, before losing in a last leg decider to Tom Bissell of England.
Dublin's Sean McKeon almost joined him as he went on an excellent run to the last 32 before he fell in the last leg to Englishman Ryan O'Connor, and just missed out on leg difference from going through.
Donegal's Adrian Devine was the unluckiest man of the lot as he also missed out after losing his opening game today to McKeon 5-0.
The five leg deficit meant Devine eventually missed out on leg difference and will have to sit out the final four days of action.
