CORK'S John O'Shea and Galway's Dylan Dowling both had good runs at PDC Challenge Tour 3 today as they picked up some crucial ranking money.

Former World Masters champion O'Shea made it as far as the last eight as he won five games, including a last 16 win over Dowling.

His run came to an end in the quarter finals when he lost out to eventual winner Beau Greaves, as she went on to win her second Challenge Tour event in the past two days.

O'Shea began his day with a 5-1 win over Germany's Boris Nowak and followed that up with a 5-2 victory over Belgium's Jeroen Caron.

In his last 64 clash with England's Colin Osbourne, O'Shea averaged 96.33 as he prevailed 5-2,  before he overcame Holland's Gilbert van der Meijden in a last leg decider to progress to a last 16 clash with Dylan Dowling.

Dowling, for his part, had made it as far as the last 16 with impressive wins over France's Nicolas Thuillier, and then a trio of English players in  Tommy Morris, David Evans and Steve Hine.

That set up the all-Irish clash with O'Shea, which the experienced Corkman won 5-1, before succumbing to Greaves in the last eight.

Elsewhere, Northern Ireland's Kevin Burness made it to his second semi-final of the weekend, before losing out to Scotland's John Henderson.
