Sunday Shoutout - Ollie Monaghan

"I like to greet people with a friendly smile and a warm handshake to make them feel at ease and enjoy the competition."

Those were the words of Claremorris man Ollie Monaghan as he explained to Darts In Ireland how he likes to greet the hundreds of players who descended on the INDO Killarney Darts Festival last November.

It's one of the reasons why players from Japan, Canada, Palestine and beyond said the event was one of their favourites in their darting calendar and they were sure to return.

With his camera or phone in hand, there has been nobody better to work a room full of darts players than Ollie.

He's held various roles in the INDO over the years, including being Ireland international team manager, but it's testament to his ability as the friendly photos man that it's this role he'll be best remembered for.

He's also a dab hand at interviews, skilfully asking players the right questions in front of the camera, and could easily give any of the RTE sports guys a run for their money!

Ollie has now decided the time is right to step back from his volunteering role for the INDO and there's little doubt he will be sorely missed at all the big events.
