YESTERDAY saw another super Saturday of darts action right around Ireland, with success for two players at different ends of the darting spectrum.
Cork's John O'Shea showed why he's still one of the best darts players in the country as he wrestled the ADC Ireland title belt off Kerry's John McCarthy.
The Joker has now earned himself another two days at the Modus Super Series as he put on a superb display of darts on the opening day of the Winmau Championship Tour Ireland at the Talbot Hotel in Stillorgan.
In Tour Event 1, O'Shea also proved unbeatable as he progressed past the likes of Ireland internationals Ciaran Teehan and Patrick Quinn, to set up a semi-final clash with Niall Culleton.
In a high-class contest, O'Shea kept his nerve in that to win in a last leg decider, averaging 86.2 as he edged out Culleton.
He performed even better in the final, averaging 89.97 as he beat Tipperary's Aidan O'Hara 5-2 in the Event 1 final.

Meanwhile, in the JDC Eire Tour in Laois, rising Westmeath star Cian Gilchrist put on an equally excellent display of darts to win Event 2 yesterday.
Cian, a member of the Westmeath team that recently made it to the final of the INDO Youth Inter Counties championship, came through a field of 141 players to win the event.
He showed remarkable consistency throughout, averaging just over 73 in three games in a row as he beat Eoin Roche in the last eight, Shay Feeney in the semi-finals and Sean McDermott in the final.
Cian even managed to pull off a stunning 167 checkout in that final, to cap a brilliant day for him.
