Magnificent McDonagh finishes second on Modus Super Series

ANOTHER magnificent run from Ronan McDonagh saw him fire all the way into the final of this week's Modus Super Series.

However, the Offaly man had to settle for finishing second to the brilliant Sam Spivey in a final played in great spirits at the Live Lounge in Portsmouth.
McDonagh had already done himself proud by making it as far as finals night on his debut in the competition.
He had promised there was more to come from him and he didn't disappoint as he began his night with a super 4-1 win over Charlie Large, that he wrapped up with an 11 dart leg that included back-to-back maximums.
The margin of that victory meant McDonagh needed just two legs in his second Group 2 game with Spivey, and he duly managed to get them.
That set McDonagh up for an intriguing semi-final clash with Czech player Alexander Masek.
McDonagh certainly didn't show any nerves as he raced into a 3-0 lead over Masek and looked to be on course for an easy route into the final.

Howver, Masek managed to pull McDonagh back to 3-3 and looked very much on course to complete the comeback in the final leg of the match.
Somehow, Masek managed to miss six match darts that allowed McDonagh to nip in and the win on double 2.

That sparked wild celebrations amongst McDonagh's family and fans in the crowd, as he set up a final with Sam Spivey.
it was the Englishman who again came out on top as a slow start cost McDonagh as he fell 3-0 behind early on.

Despite winning the fourth leg, MdDonagh was unable to get a foothold in the final, with Spivey being declared as the third weekly winner of the new series as he wrapped up a 4-1 win.
