TOP Irish darts player Niall Culleton signed off his day at the Modus Super Series by picking up a crucial Group C win over Jamie Kelling.
The Carlow darts player took out a lovely 86 finish to see off Kelling in a last leg decider to pick up some points in a highly competitive group.
The reigning INDO inter-county pairs champion has a lot of work to do if he is to make it to finals night, though, as he remains in fifth place in a group in which only the top two qualify from.
it means Culleton will need a strong run tomorrow, and hope other results go his way, if he is to make it into Saturday night.
It could have been different had it not being for the fact that Culleton lost out in a couple of other last leg deciders to Mark Warburton of Wales and England's Sam Spivey.
He also lost out in high quality clashes against Jeremy Fagg of Australia and Czech player Alexander Masek.
Howver, Culleton kept his cool in that last match against Kelling to pick up a win and ensure he didn't end the day empty handed.
He'll be back in Group C action tomorrow when the places for this week's finals night will be decided.
